GEWISS Sustainability Report 2024: a year of responsible growth
Growing sustainably means combining industrial vision, environmental awareness, people-centered policies and transparent governance. The GEWISS Sustainability Report 2024 recounts this path, providing a clear overview of the actions taken between January 1 and December 31, 2024.
Drawn up on a voluntary basis and inspired by the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) while also maintaining reference to the GRI Standards, the document serves both as a reporting tool and a declaration of long-term commitment.
A solid industrial structure with an international outlook
In 2024, GEWISS closed the year with a consolidated turnover of €622 million. The Group operated through an industrial structure comprising eleven production sites and twenty-nine companies active in the industrial, commercial and service sectors: a scale that reflects the company’s solidity, its ability to innovate and an increasingly widespread global presence. With commercial operations in over 100 countries and a well-established footprint in key international markets, GEWISS remains a reference point in the electrotechnical industry, holding a strong position in the fields of energy, electric mobility, automation, infrastructure and lighting.
Throughout the past year, the reorganization of the Business Units was completed, integrating Performance iN Lighting, Pulsar Engineering, and Tvilight. This strengthened the Group’s ability to offer integrated, synergistic solutions for residential, commercial and industrial applications.
2024 also saw the expansion of solutions for energy management and customer support services, confirming GEWISS’ commitment to responsible growth, driven increasingly by innovation, internationalization and the enhancement of both human and technological capital.
Environmental sustainability: more efficiency, less impact
On the environmental front, GEWISS continued its energy efficiency program, achieving savings of 1,410 MWh. At the same time, in-house production from renewable sources increased by 40% compared to 2023.
In 2024, 96% of the waste generated was classified as non-hazardous, highlighting the Group’s ongoing commitment to responsible resource selection and waste management.
People and work culture: a human-centered approach
The topic of social sustainability is given concrete expression in a company that places people at the core and has always promoted virtuous policies in human resource management. At the end of 2024, GEWISS employed 2,214 people, with permanent contracts accounting for over 98%. This figure reflects the Group’s commitment to building stable and long-term relationships with its employees.
Notably, the volume of training delivered exceeded 40,000 hours, showcasing a continued commitment to professional development and organizational well-being.
In terms of health and safety, the number of workplace accidents fell by 43% compared to 2023, confirming the Group’s strong focus on managing health and safety issues.
Also for 2024 GEWISS has confirmed its commitment to supporting local communities and the territory through open and collaborative dialogue with the organizations and social groups it collaborates with.
Even stronger, more transparent and certified governance
From a governance perspective, 2024 saw a further strengthening of compliance policies and oversight across various Group locations, thanks to the expansion of certified management systems. Specifically, GEWISS obtained five new certifications in 2024: ISO 45001 for health and safety at work and ISO 14001 for environmental management at GEWISS Portugal; UNI PdR 125for gender equality, obtained by both GEWISS S.p.A. and PERFORMANCE iN LIGHTING S.p.A.; and ISO 37001 for anti-bribery management at GEWISS S.p.A.
The Group’s product sustainability path also progressed with 1,100 product codes certified under the PEP Ecopassport® label, based on environmental life cycle assessments.
A future built every day
In addition to providing a detailed overview of the actions taken, the Sustainability Report 2024 serves as a tool to guide the Group’s future direction. It stands as a concrete testament to GEWISS’ daily commitment to creating lasting value for the company, people and the environment.
For the Group, sustainability means combining performance and responsibility, innovation and awareness, along a path that recognizes the importance of relationships, respect and consistency between intentions and actions.
