GEWISS acquires PULSAR Engineering srl and the ThinKNX platform

Acquisition of PULSAR Engineering srl, a pioneering company operating in the building automation technologies and supervision systems sector, owner of the ThinKNX platform. The operation has allowed us to expand mutual business opportunities, confirming the growth path undertaken by GEWISS in recent years.

Entrance of Performance in Lighting

GEWISS and PERFORMANCE IN LIGHTING announce the agreement for the official entry of the historic leading company in the international lighting sector into the GEWISS Group.

 

The project will allow the expansion of mutual business opportunities, confirming the growth path undertaken by GEWISS through the acquisition of new market shares in a strategic sector, with PERFORMANCE IN LIGHTING as a fundamental asset for lighting.

A new business model is born to offer scalable and transversal solutions. With Gewiss Services & Solutions the company takes care of all aspects of a project, from initial planning to procurement, from coordination of contractors and suppliers to final delivery, acting as general contractor on behalf of the customer.

A story of success through the generations thus celebrates the 50th anniversary of Gewiss, the historic Italian brand in the electrotechnical sector that operates in the production of solutions and products for home automation, energy and lighting for the residential, tertiary and industrial sectors.

Partnership with Atalanta Bergamasca Calcio

The decision to combine the name of GEWISS with the Nerazzurri colours stems from a desire to establish a link with our beautiful city and contribute to achieving the most ambitious sporting goals, both in Italy and in Europe.

 

An agreement, the one with ATALANTA, which confirms GEWISS’s willingness to invest in sports and in the millions of athletes, both young and adult, who every day dedicate energy and passion to sports. A path that started with the Digital Sport Innovation project, which focuses on the renewal of sports facilities throughout the country.

Official Sponsor Expo

With the dual role of the Official Sponsor of Expo 2015 and the Main Partner of the Italian Pavilion, we projected ourselves into a new brand visibility project on an international stage. A unique opportunity to be present with the most advanced plant solutions in the world, as well as to promote our brand and our products in the context of Italian excellence.

 

An important showcase, which confirmed us as the main entirely Italian reality of the electrotechnical sector.

European Convention

In the fabulous setting of Monte-Carlo, the city of luxury and elegance, during the MONTECARLO FILM FESTIVAL DE LA COMEDIE, we met our historical partners in the Meridien Beach Plaza Hotel, to organise the GEWISS EUROPEAN CONVENTION.

 

We celebrated the collaborations that contributed to the development of the market and we could discuss the future scenarios of the electrotechnical sector.

Launch of Chorus range

In the second half of the decade, the Chorus international home automation system was launched for Home & Building Automation, combining the most advanced plant technologies with the style of Italian design.

 

Investment in the product was also accompanied by a constant commitment to consolidating the relationship with all the players in the supply chain, through collaboration with sector institutions and the development of communication activities, training and promotion of the electrotechnical culture for installers, designers and distributors, architects and construction companies.

Opening of the logistic hub

In the first decade of the new millennium, the innovative vocation of the GEWISS Group took shape with the strengthening of logistics and production structures, consolidation on international markets and the completion of the offer for the integrated electrical system.

 

In 2000, the New Logistics Centre of Calcinate (Bergamo) was inaugurated in a strategic position, which allowed the coverage of the whole of central Europe within a 1,000 km radius: a 85,000 sqm computerised warehouse to guarantee the continuous availability of the products at the best distributors of electrical equipment.

Internationalisation

During the last decade of the 20th century, the productive areas radically doubled, and with over 3000 items, the concept of the catalogue was strengthened as a service for the complete plant, even in highly electrically controlled areas of the tertiary and industrial sectors. NOWAPLAST, SCHUPA, MERZ and MAVIL: this was the original core of the GEWISS Group.

 

The GEWISS brand and the new domestic series Playbus was entrusted once again to the world of cycling by sponsoring the team GEWISS Ballan.

Caribbean cruising

The first 25 years were celebrated in the name of "development as a constant of management", the principle and condition necessary for a modern and successful company.

 

Continuous investments in technological research, training and attention to the market constituted our reality, in which human resources have always been the protagonists of and participants in the objectives and strategies, with maximum transparency.

New headquarters

The inauguration of the technological and manufacturing hub of Cenate Sotto (BG) allowed a significant increase in our production capacity and in the process of internationalisation.

 

The Hub joined the two factories at Cenate Sopra and Trescore Balneario, for a total of 80,000 square metres.

 

It was the definitive fulfilment of the business concept of total quality: an "intelligent building", fully computerised, where human resources were able to express the maximum professionalism.

The company is listed on the stock market

In 1988, a decisive step was reached for the company: listing on the Stock Market in Milan. The appreciation of the stock quickly attracted the attention of Italian and foreign economic operators, laying the foundations for the brand’s internationalisation aspirations.

 

This historical moment was experienced by all with profound pride and emotion, so much so that the actions were signed by one employee out of three.

Gewiss and cycling

The size reached by the company, the articulation of the offer and the complex appearance of the market also caused the significant acceleration of our communication policy: the commercial promotion of the brand took on an even more international dimension with the sponsorship of the GEWISS Bianchi cycling team before and GEWISS Ballan then (39 professional competitions won in 1994 and 34 in 1995), while in support of the 9000 Series, the print and television press channels were used.

Meeting in Porto Cervo

 

The role of GEWISS in the first decade of life was immediately perceptible on the electrotechnical market, where it established itself as a "proposal company", which already had an international vision of technical problems: from the stimulus of regulatory evolution on industrial plug sockets, for example, the CEE17 Series was born, later adopted all over the world.

 

A year after the convention in Porto Cervo, GEWISS expanded its image on the market with the launch plan of the 9000 series. Breaking with established customs, the company introduced for the first time colour in the light point, which from a simple technical element is imposed as a furnishing complement: the nine colour variations were a phenomenon that led to the civil circuit breaker revolution.

Year of its foundation

GEWISS comes from a brilliant product idea: the use of technopolymer in electrical plant engineering – a revolutionary application for the whole sector, which immediately placed us among the protagonists of electrical engineering.

 

Also from a commercial point of view, the company made a strategic choice: the identification in the channel of distributors of electrical material as essential partners to propose innovative products and useful information, training and promotion services.
